Did a little calling in a new area yesterday and then made a few test stands where we’re planning to call for the SEAZCCC. This is the result of 8 stands and because both of us were too concerned about the calling and scouting, we almost forgot to grab a picture. We were too busy trying to add to the pile and ran out of light before we could take a picture. Saturday we hunted through the rain and managed to pull a few to the call. The area’s been better in the past but given the conditions we’ll take it. Regardless of how much camouflage you have, a coyote has an uncanny ability to identify a human profile. I first learned just how much on a hunt in Southern Arizonawhere I pulled in a highly committed coyote from my left. I stood next to an eight-foot tall bush that hid my profile, and which set the call 30 yards out to my right. The bush hid my profile from all but one angle. Even though fully committed, and with all of his attention on the call, the second he got to that angle he hit the brakes and looked right at me.
